❌

Free YouTube Videos

The right video might be out there, but finding it means hours of searching inside a platform built to pull attention somewhere else.

❌

Educational Apps

Often built to quiz, not teach. The explanation might be there, but it's an easy click to skip, so your student ends up guessing at answers instead of actually understanding them.

❌

Private Tutoring

A good tutor can work, but it's rarely a one-time cost. It usually means ten or more sessions, a stranger your student has to get comfortable with, and scheduling around school and sports.

Math with Negative Numbers

Course Curriculum

Foundations

(Days 1-3)

  • Teaching starts with things your student already knows instead of an equation, giving them an early win.

  • Clears up the exact mix-up behind most negative number mistakes: confusing negative signs and subtraction signs.

  • Your student stops guessing and starts understanding.

  • The confusion that usually drags on for weeks starts lifting in the first few days.

Course Feature

All Four Operations

(Days 4-7)

  • No more guessing at the sign rules. Your student learns why they actually work.

  • Your student practices right alongside me, then tries it on their own, not just watching. That's what helps build confidence.

  • Covers everything their teacher expects them to know, so you're not left wondering what's still missing.

  • Your student stops avoiding problems the moment a negative sign shows up.

Course Feature

Putting It Together

(Days 8-10)

  • Mixed problems are where many students get stuck. Your student gets through them instead.

  • No more guessing on word problems. Your student learns exactly what the words are telling them to do.

  • Real-life situations help your student see how much they can actually do, and lets you see it too.

Course Feature

Confidence Grows

(Every Day)

  • Confidence isn't a separate lesson. It grows right alongside every math skill your student learns.

  • A hard moment becomes proof of progress, not failure. "I can't do this" becomes "I don't understand this...yet."

  • You'll hear the shift in how your student talks about themselves.

Meet Mrs. P

Meet Your Instructor

My name is Chrisie, and I remember exactly what it feels like to not understand math.

In sixth grade, after switching schools mid-year, I was expected to already know things about fractions I'd never been taught. I didn't understand, and I felt stupid for not understanding. My teacher didn't have much patience for that. There was no "it's okay, we'll figure this out together," just "why don't you know this." I cried more than once that year.

That feeling stuck around through most of seventh grade. Then, near the end of that year, something shifted. Maybe it was a good teacher, maybe my brain was finally ready for it, probably both. Math started to make sense, and once it did, I fell in love with it. I got competitive about it. I wanted to be the best in my class.

In high school, I noticed something else: I was good at explaining things. My teacher would teach a concept, some of the class wouldn't get it. Classmates started asking me to walk them through it, and when my first explanation didn't land, I'd find another way in until it did.

I'm not a math genius, and I never was. What I have is a memory of exactly what it feels like to sit in a room not understanding something while everyone else seems to, and a knack for restating things until they make sense. That combination is why I teach.

I've been teaching in some form for about 23 years. I started teaching at the university level and doing private tutoring around 2003, took a few years off to raise my own kids, and came back to the classroom teaching 5th through 8th grade math, Algebra 1, and statistics. I also have a PhD in math and a degree in math education.

Every year I have a handful of students that have completely given up on ever understanding math and are just trying to survive. They are confused, frustrated and some are even so hopeless, they don't see any point in trying to learn - they just 'need to pass', and by any means. I have learned how to change how math makes them feel, show them math doesn't have to be confusing, and help them believe they are capable, building their own confidence. And THIS student journey is exactly why I teach.

If you're one of the early families to join, your experience helps shape what this looks like for every family after you, and I'll be reading all your feedback and taking it seriously.

I hope your student gets to feel what I felt near the end of seventh grade: the moment it finally starts to make sense.

Who Is This Course For?

  • You want your student to go from confused to confident with negative numbers, without a big time or money commitment.

  • You value real teaching that feels like one-to-one tutoring, not another app that focuses on quizzing.

  • Parents of a 6th, 7th or 8th grader who needs to build a real foundation in negative numbers, no matter what else they're working on.

What Categories Do We Focus On?

  • Real Foundation - connects negative numbers to real life, before ever touching an equation.

  • Add & Subtract with Negative Numbers - builds real fluency with both operations, not just memorized steps.

  • Multiply and Divide with Negative Numbers - teaches the reasoning behind the sign rules, not just the rules themselves.

  • Confidence Grows - right alongside every math skill your student learns, not as something separate.

Who Is This Course NOT For?

  • You would rather spend your evenings looking for free videos on YouTube.

  • You would rather spend more money on in-person tutoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

What skill level is this program for?

This course is built for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders working on negative numbers, whether they're seeing the topic for the first time or started in class and got stuck. There's no other math skill required to start. We begin with real-world thinking your student already has, like money and temperature, not a formula, so even a student who feels behind can jump in on Day 1.

Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing negative numbers is most commonly taught in 7th grade, though some schools introduce parts of it earlier in 6th grade. By 8th grade, it's assumed your student already has it down. If it didn't fully make sense the first time around, this course gets your student caught up before it holds them back in what comes next.

How long do I have access to the program & when does it start?

You'll have lifetime access to this course once it's yours, so your student can revisit any lesson whenever they need it, before a test, next year, or anytime after. And if I ever update or add to the course down the road, you get that for free too.

Here's the timeline: pre-launch enrollment closes on 10/25. Days 1 through 5 open up on 11/01, and Days 6 through 10 follow 5 days after that.

Can't I learn all of this on Youtube?

Probably. There's a lot of good math content on YouTube. But finding the right video, in the right order, that actually matches where your student is stuck, can mean hours of searching inside a platform built to pull their attention somewhere else.

This course does that work for you: ten lessons, in the right order, covering exactly what your student needs, with nothing missing and nothing skipped.

And no shorts, ads, or recommended videos sitting right next to the lesson, tempting them to look somewhere else.

Does my student need to know anything before starting?

Not really. This course doesn't assume your student already understands negative numbers, that's the whole point. The one thing that helps is being comfortable with basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts, since those show up throughout.

If they need a calculator or a multiplication table for those, that's okay. But you don't need to check off any topic first. We start from real-world thinking your student already has, not a formula.

Should I try a math app instead?

If your student already understands negative numbers and just needs more practice, an app might be exactly what you need. But if they don't understand why one answer is right and another is wrong, an app will only reinforce the confusion, not build real understanding.
